The comment underneath probably didn't tell you much. Needs to revise more. So you know something has gone wrong, but not what, not how serious it is, and not what to do about it.
The grade matters more than it first appears. A 4 is a standard pass. Below that, the subject doesn't finish in Year 11. It carries on as a resit at college until your child passes or turns 18.
The useful part is that the mock paper already explains the problem. Most people only read the score.
A subject specialist reads it as a list. Rearranging equations. Moles calculations. Long-answer questions left unfinished because the time ran out. The issue is rarely that a child is weak at Maths. It is four or five specific topics, and they can be named.

On most tutoring sites, the parent does the recruiting. You read profiles, pick a stranger, and carry the consequences if it goes badly.

Aiming for an 8 or a 9?
We cater for every academic ability and aspiration. Moving a 6 to an 8 is a different problem from moving a 3 to a 5. It's less about filling gaps and more about the harder end of the specification, precision under time pressure, and what examiners actually award marks for on extended responses. We staff it differently, usually with tutors who have taught or examined the subject.

Every package includes the discovery conversation, a progress note after each session, session recordings, and refunds on unused sessions. If the first paid session isn't right, we refund it in full.
We guarantee what we control: the refund, the re-match and the plan. We don't guarantee grades, and we'd treat any tutoring company that does with caution.
The things parents ask us
Is it too late?+
It's the most common question we get from February onwards. Twelve weeks with a specialist and a focused plan is a reasonable amount of time, particularly when the problem is four topics rather than a whole syllabus. The discovery conversation will tell you honestly what's realistic. If it isn't realistic, we'll say so.
My child won't engage anyway.+
Then don't commit to anything yet. We offer a full refund on the first lesson if it isn't up to expectations.
Who would be teaching my child?+
A named subject specialist, Enhanced DBS checked, references taken and qualifications verified. All our educators are experienced in teaching and have achieved high grades themselves.
Is online tuition worse than in person?+
For most students it's equal. For anxious students it's often better: familiar room, no travel, no audience, and a recording to go back to. You'll be able to judge for yourself once your child starts lessons, and if the first paid session isn't right, we'll refund it in full.
Do you tutor Year 10, or only Year 11?+
Both. Year 10 is the better time to start, and it's usually the cheaper route, because there's time to fix the underlying gaps rather than manage around them.
Do you teach any other subjects or year groups?+
No. GCSE Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science only. If you need English, humanities or A-level, we'll point you somewhere sensible rather than pretend.
How quickly can we start?+
You can start the conversation right away, any time, with no slot to book. Once we've matched a specialist, lessons normally begin within the week.
Free resources exist. Why pay?+
They're good, and your child should be using them. We recommend Seneca and Physics & Maths Tutor in most plans we write. What they can't do is notice that a child has been avoiding one topic for six weeks. Free resources give your child information. A tutor gives them attention.
